Facility Improvements

The Friends of Governor Dodge routinely partner with the park staff to maintain and improve park trails, buildings, signage, and more. We have made significant repairs and improvements on multiple sections of the Driftless, Old Orchard, and Woodland trails thanks to funding assistance from a Wisconsin Horse Council Trails grant and the expertise of park maintenance personnel.

We assist park staff with regular trail maintenance, including removal of storm debris, and replacing the stairs along the Eenee Point trail with assistance from the Rock Climbers’ Club. We also recently repainted the wood shed used to store firewood for sale in the park.

The Friends provide monitoring and maintenance the the Gateway Prairie, located just before the park office, with assistance from local Master Gardeners.
We also planned, prepped, and planted a native plant bed with a rock sculpture at a trailhead shared by horse day riders, hikers and rock climbers, and built bird and bat houses to be used within the park.
